@KRBronson recommends: Chinatown Summer Nights kicks off its free concert series with six bands on the LA Weekly Live Music Stage – incuding EFG (Electric Flower Group), and Meiko, along with Babes, Kera & the Lesbians, StaG and RÁJ. Another stage in Chinatown’s Central Plaza features KCRW DJs Travis Holcombe and Mario Cotto, and there will be food tucks, cultural activities and (a favorite) the statue of Bruce Lee. It all starts at 6 p.m.

@Seraphina_L recommends: Robert Pollard and the crew stops by the Fonda Theatre on Friday in support of Guided By Voices‘ latest album “Cool Planet.” Expect cigarettes and whiskey bottles on stage – as always with these guys.
