Above: That’s Royksopp & Robyn‘s video for “Say It.” The track is off their “Do It Again” EP, which they’ll be supporting with a show on Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl.
Our staff picks of the week:
@KRBronson recommends: I’m sure the more fashionable legacy act to catch on Friday night will be Veruca Salt at the Roxy, but if you favor a deep catalog of sophisticated, deeply affecting songs, then you’d do well to catch World Party at the Troubadour. It was something like this a year and a half ago when Karl Wallinger and gang visited.
@Seraphina_L recommends: If you haven’t gotten to check out this month’s resident band at the Satellite, then you may especially want to check out French Style Furs on Monday night. The band, which is 50% of Cold War Kids and one-third of We Barbarians, wraps up their slew of free weekly shows – in support of their forthcoming full-length “Is Exotic Bait” (out July 8 via Frenchkiss) – with Chasing Kings, Banta and the Bulls (featuring Anna Bulbrook from the Airborne Toxic Event). Yep, you read that right: Chasing Kings. The band reunites for the first time since Matthew Schwartz went on tour with Cold War Kids, Â Mike Goldman not only started Nona but went on the road with Meg Myers then joined Goldroom’s live band with Nick Sandler, and Drew Beck took a leave from the band to focus on producing after working with Goldman in Paper Tiger. There will be fun to be had. If you’re looking for something with more of an R&B vibe, then Movement at the Echo will be your best bet. The Australian trio will be making their U.S. debut on Tuesday in support of their self-titled EP on Modular Recordings.
