If you don’t open the door, you’ll never know what’s behind it. You reckon that Avi Zahner-Isenberg walked through a few during his time between Avi Buffalo albums, and maybe a few were as strange as what he encounters in director Jon Jon Augustavo’s video for the new single “So What.” Augustavo, who’s done visuals for Macklemore, Allen Stone and the Kopecky Family Band (among others), concocts a strange dreamland that Zahner-Isenberg negotiates with boyish trepidation. It’s been more than four years since Avi Buffalo released its self-titled debut to wide acclaim, and the band’s sophomore step, “At Best Cuckold,” will be out Sept. 9 via Sub Pop. Nothing but warm vibes from this first single … And, by the way, the frontman talked to Pitchfork about the album.
