TÜLIPS‘ “Hotspur” is a love song but it’s an in-your-face kind of ode and the numerous stars in its Dustin Muenchow-directed video almost attack one another when it comes to face-to-face encounters. Taleen Kali and Angie Bloom still trade off vocals while Travis Barnes thrashes around on drums (they’re also now joined by Miles Marsico on bass), but the marriage of punk and doo-wop here is interestingly illustrated as each pair of lovers collide into one another from beginning to end. The band even gets swept off their feet, and somehow it still ends up being a somewhat PG-13 rated pile of love. TÜLIPS’ Greg Katz-produced and Brad Laner-mixed cassingle (yep, it’s exactly what it sounds like), which features “Hotspur” and “Wait,” is slated for an Aug. 29 release via I Love You Just The Way You Were Records. The singles are from TÜLIPS’ forthcoming album “Doom & Bloom.”
