Kimbra, the New Zealand-born, L.A.-based singer whose second album “The Golden Echo” came out Aug. 19, kicks off a free Sunday night residency at the Bootleg HiFi. The nights are going by the name “Space Jam” and will feature other musicians and collaborators. On her track “Miracle” (that’s director Thom Kerr’s video, above), Thundercat and Silverchair’s Daniel Johns guest.
‣ L.A. roots music enesemble the Walcotts head up the fare at Grand Ole Echo at the Echo. The weekly shindig kicks off at 3 p.m. and also features Cal King, the Skylarks, Kathleen Grace and Alice Wallace.
‣ And Shiny Toy Guns rock the Echoplex, supported by pop quartet NO (not to be confused with the indie-rock sextet that recently changed its name to Black English) and Wasi.
