“Pisces,” the long-in-the-works album from the Sarah Negahdari side project bearing the name of the 12th sign of the Zodiac, seems born of faeries, or at least sprinkled by fairy dust. Pisces’ music has been described as the “mystical side” of the Happy Hollows frontwoman, but it’s not like her indie-rock trio isn’t a little bit enigmatic itself, so we’ll settle for more mystical. In fact … is there such a thing as lo-fi new age? Drenched in reverb and sometimes-choral background vocals, Negahdari’s psychedelic folk isn’t all starry-eyed and celestial. “Winter Horse” could be a Happy Hollows song, with its big rolling bass line, and “Paint a Rocket” is finger-pickin’ good. Below, the full stream of the album:
