Wayne Static – the musician born Wayne Richard Wells who fronted the metal band Static-X – died Saturday, three days short of his 49th birthday, according to an announcement from the band’s representatives FiXt Publicity. The announcement also appeared on the artist’s Facebook page.
No additional information is available at this time, the press release said.
Static-X released six albums, the last in 2009, including their platinum-selling debut “Wisconsin Death Trip” in 2001.
