If you’re one of those music fans who holds to the notion that there must be something in the water in Sweden, here’s another line for your thesis: the indie-pop quintet Amason. Having been tagged a “Swedish supergroup,” the band crafts elegant songs built around the smoky voice of Amanda Bergman, who sang in the band Hajen and writes under the name Idiot Wind. She’s joined in the group by Pontus Winnberg (Miike Snow), Gustav Ejstes (Dungen) and Petter Winnberg and Nils Törnqvist (both of Little Majorette). They released an EP in their homeland last year and have a full-length in the works for 2015, but the new single “Duvan” just landed digitally (it’s out via Fairfax Recordings as a 7-inch on Nov. 10). Oh, and “Duvan” translates to “the dove.” So … yeah.
