New month, new week … here’s Monday:
‣ Ben Watt, the longtime electronic music provocateur and one-half of the duo Everything But Girl, headlines the Troubadour behind his new solo album “Hendra” – which 31 years after his first solo album returns to his folk roots. Get there early for Itasca.
‣ His second album “Three Hearts,” released in August, has caused much of a ripple in the U.S., but British singer-songwriter Alex Clare will have it on display at the Belasco Theatre, where Taylor Berrett opens.
‣ Michael Franti & Spearhead and Immigré perform at The Renegade Ball, benefiting the Immunity Project, at Mack Sennett Studios.
‣ With a new EP due next week, Kissing Cousins kick off a month-long residency at the Satellite, supported by Rainbow Jackson, TS & the Past Haunts and Fairbanks.
‣ The Black & the White launch their residency at the Bootleg HiFi, with Figs Vision and Fire Chief Charlie also performing.
‣ At the Echo, Girlpool has the December residency, with a listening/pizza party at Origami before tonight’s debut, and Slutever, Debt and Post Life supporting.
‣ And Americana quartet the Sunset Drifters start their stand at the Silverlake Lounge, with Travis Labrel and Austin Hebert supporting.
