Video: Roadkill Ghost Choir, ‘Down & Out’

Much to anyone’s surprise, something good can come out of Florida – Roadkill Ghost Choir bring smooth Americana to the table with hints of ethereal 1970s soundscapes and the familiar cool romantic tones of local L.A. rockers the Reflections. Roadkill Ghost Choir’s newest video for “Down & Out” was directed by the quintet’s friend Micah Weisberg, who says the song reminds him of “wandering the streets late at night.” A series of handheld mirrored splits of fogged streets, pool halls, strippers and kaleidoscopic lights unfolds behind Andrew Shephard’s tranquil vocals and Kiffy Myer’s pedal steel. The track comes from their debut album released in August, “In Tongues,” which toes a psych-folk line with pastoral views and a light at the end of the tunnel.
