Waxahatchee, who signed to Merge Records in December, has announced a the third installment to her catalog, titled “Ivy Tripp.” The solo project of beloved Katie Crutchfield garnered quite a bit of indie cred with her previous album “Cerulean Salt” and she’s not stopping there. Waxahatchee’s new single “Air” is just that, airy, distant and patient. The song is not complicated by any means, but the New York-based Crutchfield’s storytelling is so raw and bewitching, she’ll take hold of you effortlessly. The controlled cadence goes beyond just being thematic to set a grounded, honest tone. Slated for release on April 7, “Ivy Tripp” may well be worth the wait.
