San Francisco guitar-drum duo the Dodos mark their 10th anniversary this year. In anticipation of their sixth full-length album, “Competition” is a light and sweet peek into the matured craft of Meric Long and Logan Kroeber. Albeit a straightforward indie-rock song, the first single off of the nine-track album reminds us of the strength in the duo’s songwriting and longevity. The bright melody is a smooth ride serving as a positive twist on the uncertain inner monologue, “If I let you go, could I forget you?” “Individ” (out Tuesday on Polyvinyl Records) captures a thicker, reflective movement between two instruments and instincts. The album’s overall cadence matches that of Long’s vocal and lyrical structure for a warmly cohesive guide in accepting what comes naturally. As with former records from the Dodos, you don’t have to put in much effort to enjoy what they have laid out.
