KCSN2014NEW-500Anything good on TV tonight? No? Well, join me at 9 o’clock for the L.A. Buzz Bands Show, where instead of a red carpet, I will provide a sharply designed welcome mat for new local music. I have songs from Gateway Drugs, Cary Brothers, Los Angeles Police Department, Rough Church and Frogtown, along with tunes from soon-to-be-performing-live artists such as Hundred Waters, Hanni El Khatib and Talk in Tongues. One segment of tonight’s show will be devoted to four of the artists playing the Chinese New Year Festival on Feb. 21 in Chinatown, and for this week’s “Flashback Track” I will rewind 12 years (I can hardly believe it’s been that long) to February, 2003, to revisit my favorite song from the drop-dead-gorgeous third album by Devics. You can find the show on KCSN (88.5 FM, streaming at KCSN.org). Below, subject to last-minute changes (because I will be live and not watching TV), tonight’s playlist:

Gateway Drugs,”Fridays Are for Suckers”
Hanni El Khatib, “All Black”
Cary Brothers, “Lovin’ On You”
BØRNS, “Electric Love”
