Empire of the Sun, Grace Jones (in tandem with Future Islands), Diana Krall, Basement Jaxx, Death Cab for Cutie, Underworld, Heart, Sheryl Crow and Ed Sheeran are among the artists paying visits this season to the Hollywood Bowl, which announced its 2015 season today.
Among the highlights are movie-themed nights, including John Williams’ full score of “E.T. the Extraterrestrial,” a live presentation of “2001: A Space Odyssey” and a salute to the 30th anniversary of “Back to the Future.” There are three nights of the fully staged Broadway production of “Monty Python’s SPAMALOT,” as well the Bowl’s normal cadre of jazz, classical and fireworks nights, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Gustavo Dudamel conducting the annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular with Fireworks for the first time. Six of the dates are part of KCRW’s World Festival, including an August celebration of Bob Marley’s 70th birthday.
