Following the 2012 EP “In Love With The Enemy,” Los Angeles artist Kita Klane released her sophomore EP, the four-track “Fingerprints,” last week, a moody and sultry batch of indie-soul. The black-and-white video of the title track was directed by Nic Harcourt (the former KCRW music director and current KCSN morning host), stars Mike O’Malley and paints an espionage motif as Klane escapes capture and gains access to O’Malley’s safe. The track itself highlights Klane’s voice, a seductive mix of Banks and Amy Winehouse, over a buzzing synth, grandiose percussion, and punctuating strings. The rest of the EP is equally as solid, blending retro pop and forward-thinking production, especially “Take It Easy,” which sounds like The xx on a cinematic scale with vocals that soar from subdued to sky-high.
