Adele-endorsed piano man Tobias Jesso Jr. brought the songs from his debut album “Goon” to the Echo on Saturday night, playing to a rapt full house endeared by his humble banter and tender ballads. Jesso is the Canadian who spent several years in L.A. as a bassist before moving back to Vancouver and taking up the piano. During the show, he thanked his “L.A. family” for taking him in when he was down and out, performed “Hollywood” and (by request) “Crocodile Tears” and ended his set by asking the crowd to sing along with “How Could You Babe.” They obliged. Young singer-songwriter Okay Kaya opened with the night a short, nervous, giggle-punctuated set during which she acknowledged how hard her heart was pounding.
