Last month, when Tame Impala released the first song from its forthcoming album “Currents,” fans of the Australian band’s 2012 breakout “Lonerism” knew they might be in for a seismic shift. Ambient and proggy, the songs shape-shifts on bent synths for almost eight minutes, absent the chiming, harmonized guitars that made the Aussies torchbearers in the psych-rock revival. Today, Kevin Parker and gang unveiled the first proper single, “‘Cause I’m A Man,” an astral bit of psychedelic soul that reaffirms their directional shift. (No release date has been announced for the album, but the band also unveiled a pretty cool album cover too, check it out here.) Hit the high notes with him.
