Coachella 2015: Eagulls, flying like a … British post-punk band

Who: Eagulls in the Gobi Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words:Â Just all right.
Memorable Because:Â Sonically, the Leeds’ quintet is a dream come true to those who favor fuzzy combinations of punk and shoegaze. Eagulls, who by the way are amazingly getting away with a name so similar to another band who are very vigilant in protecting their brand, was a nice blast of noise for those on the festival grounds around 1 p.m. Chugging along with numbers like “Nerve Endings” and “Possessed” from 2014’s self-titled album, Eagulls should have delivered a rock solid set; however, their translation to the stage seemed almost incomplete. Although a live set from Eagulls is tight and steady, the band’s lack of stage presence unfortunately takes precedent. Great listen, boring watch.
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Brent Bjork and the Low Desert Punk Band: Why spend your time seeing a local Palm Desert band when you’ve paid that much for a weekend pass? Always go with the Brit band.
