Coachella 2015: The War On Drugs, finding the familiar

The War on Drugs

Who: The War On Drugs on the Main Stage
In 3 or Fewer Words: “‘Red Eyes,’ man!”
Mostly Memorable Because: In the GA beer tent next to the main stage, there were many festival-goers were having some Springsteen-esque moments with Adam Granduciel. Although the War On Drugs are notoriously known for epic jam sessions, they provided one of the more subdued sets of the early evening. The lack of sing-along material seemed to lose the crowd for a bit (God forbid they get into great guitar work), but when they started up “Red Eyes” there were plenty of bros high-fiving or cheers-sing one another. With glee in their eyes for a song they actually knew, the crowd roared for the single. Those who were up front already cheering on the fusion of Americana, shoegaze and neo-psychedelica cheered even louder.
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Ryan Hemsworth: There’s only one Ryan worth seeing this entire weekend and Hemsworth ain’t the one.
