Coachella 2015: Azealia Banks, three years later

Who: Azealia Banks on the Main Stage.
In 3 or Fewer Words: Nailed the return.
Memorable Because: For someone who’s recently been in the news more for her shit-talking than her music, Azealia Banks had quite the triumphant return to Coachella. Three years ago, the viral hit “212” prompted an over-flowing Gobi tent that went wild for the New York rapper-singer. Now that she was on the Main Stage, it was interesting to see who still went to see what she was bringing this time around. Despite the controversies surrounding Banks, she stuck to the music. Not a single minute was wasted on hating her rivals. Performing in a flowing white blouse (in front of a digitized American flag for some reason), Banks joined her back-up dancers for a few choreographed moves, but she was mostly working the crowd on her own by spitting rhymes (sometimes with a megaphone) and even singing a cappella a few times. The crowd even stayed when the cameras happened to shoot from backstage and revealed the set list, which showed “212” as an encore. Banks’ energy and flow was, as kids like to say these days, “on fleek.” Having her return to Coachella in a few years would most likely yield another fun time.
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Kiesza: I’m not sure who danced more. We could have a tie here.
