Who: Lykke Li in the Mojave Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: Lykke likes Drake.
Memorable Because: Lykke Li has always been one to pull on the heart strings, and festival-goers must have been in the mood for some melodic melodrama because the Mojave Tent was overflowing so much there was barely room to walk from the adjacent Gobi tent to the Sahara tent. With Lykke Li looking like she just hopped out of the pool before heading back stage and dressed in a sparkling black number and wearing glittery eye shadow, the Swedish singer-songwriter ran through painstakingly heartfelt songs like newer songs like “No Rest For the Wicked” and “I Never Learn,” while older fan favorites like “Little Bit” and “I Follow Rivers” triggered a massive sing-a-long. Highlights included Lykke Li dedicating “Never Love Again” to “those who haven’t gotten over that someone and feel like they’ll never love again” only to add “but you will!” Plus, she covered Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and who doesn’t love that song?
What I’d Tell My Friend Who Was At Interpol: If you weren’t with me, why weren’t you at Alabama Shakes?
