Ears Wide Open: Ryder Bach

The press blast identifies producer Ryder Bach as “an ex-musical theater actor and ex-Scientologist,” but Bach is better known in some parts as one of two ex-principals in the dearly departed L.A. art-pop outfit Body Parts, whose 2013 album “Fire Dream” made our world a better place. Bach’s forthcoming solo EP is titled “People Are Evil; You’re All Included,” a sentiment that often seems inarguable, and on this first single “Hands in the Air,” he knob-twiddles, croons and grinds booty-first into the realm of electronic pop. The track displays a full arsenal of been-there, done-that producer tricks, but if it’s possible to “vocode” some tortured soul into a song, as opposed to suck it completely dry of emotion, Bach might have pulled it off here. The EP’s release date is to be announced.

Wow. Had he laid off/pulled back/absolutely deleted that vocoder nonsense he would’ve had. Instead, completely turned me off.
