Video: Cayucas, ‘Moony Eyed Walrus’

With its remote locale and lush greenery, the video for Cayucas’ ebullient single “Moony Eyed Walrus” recalls the L.A. band’s original name, Oregon Bike Trails. Director Nolan Wilson Goff actually filmed the video in Big Sur’s Limekiln State Park, north of Cayucos, the band’s namesake town. It finds twins Zach and Ben Yudin in search of a wave or two; instead they get only spectacular California vistas, not a bad consolation prize when you think about it. The song is from “Dancing at the Blue Lagoon” (out June 23), Cayucas’ sophomore album and the follow-up to 2013’s “Bigfoot.” Suffice to say it’s not as overcast as the day on which this video was made.
||| Live: Cayucas performs a free show Saturday, June 20, at One Colorado in Pasadena as part of KCRW Summer Nights. They do an in-store at Origami Vinyl on June 19 (where tickets to a secret show, location TBA, will be doled out). And they play the El Rey Theatre on Aug. 14.
