Brandon Curtis was part of the critically adored trio Secret Machines, along with his late brother Benjamin (School of Seven Bells) and Josh Garza, who now drums with EFG. Since Secret Machines’ three-album run from 2004 to ’08, he has been a producer and a touring member of Interpol, as well as contributing to the solo projects of Paul Banks and Sam Fogarino. Curtis’ long-in-the-works solo project is called Cosmicide, which debuted the song “Talos’ Corpse” over a year ago and hasn’t been heard from again until this week, when the video for “A New Disaster” emerged. The video featuring Kathryn Havens is the work of director Richard Krause, who conjures up an aqueous dream sequence as the song motors and sighs and ultimately sinks the listener into a lush sea of guitar and synth. Deliriously rewarding.
