Jonathan Bates must have a heart of gold. In the past year, his father died of a stroke, he lost a best friend to cancer and the storage unit containing all his music gear was emptied by thieves. So what does the Big Black Delta main man do? He releases a new song (a free download at that) titled “It’s OK.” The decidedly upbeat track is the first taste of his forthcoming sophomore album “Tragame Tierra.” In a note to followers, he notes the kindness of friends, fans and fellow musicians who helped him in some way, explaining simply: “This song is a thank you. A gesture of gratitude to everyone who has been kind — and to the universe itself.”
