Weezer’s new music video for “Go Away” invites a level of snark of which, frankly, we are weary. So here’s a straight-shot recap for graying-round-the-edges, “Flying =W=”-tattooed Weezer fans and wide-eyed devotees of Best Coast: Have fun with the humorous conceit that there might be a Weezer dating app and that our bespectacled hero might be having problems coming up with an online identity attractive to his objet d’amour (played by Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, who sings on the track). We’re not going to spoil it, but he might find his game in the end. You can find the song on Weezer’s ninth album, sincerely titled “Everything Will Be Alright in the End,” which came out last October. It will, y’know. In other news, metrics show that a high percentage of people who use music websites also frequent online dating portals.
