There’s something to be said for setting goals and deadlines and then having the fortitude to follow through, right? So it is with singer-songwriter-guitarist Gabe Hernandez, who “fed up with years of writer’s block,” he says, holed up in his bedroom to write one new song per week, without agonizing too much over his new material’s quality. He got positive feedback on his demos from friends, and one, drummer James Gordon Miller, joined him in the new project Deronda. Hernandez has posted a slew of songs to Soundcloud, each with a slightly different take on take classic rock — you taste a bit of psychedelia, glam, art-pop and garage in the music. The North Hollywood-based Deronda is finishing up work on an EP of their new music with producer Jon Siebels (of Eve 6, Monsters Are Waiting and Flybys) for release later this year.

Deronda has a complex sound and defies being pigeon holed as to genre. This band’s work needs a wide exposure and will take off among descerning listeners.
Thanks for the kind words, Mozart! It’s great to know folks like you are paying attention and liking what you hear. Hoping to make more noise soon with an EP and more good songs.
