Th surf was definitely up on Tuesday night at the Echoplex, where Seattle retro darlings La Luz — guitarist Shana Cleveland , keyboardist Alice Sandahl, bassist Lena Simon and drummer Marian Li Pino — played their first L.A. show since the release of their new full-length, “Weirdo Shrine.” The quartet banged and twanged through 17 songs, including eight off the Ty Segall-produced new album, highlighted by “Don’t Wanna Be Anywhere,” “You Disappear” and opener “Oranges.” They rewarded longtime fans at the finish, ending the main set with “Sure As Spring” from their 2012 “Damp Face” EP and returning for an encore of 2012’s “Easy Baby” and “Brainwash,” released as a 7-inch in ’13. San Francisco’s Cool Ghouls added a set of freewheeling ’60s-tinted jams, and the L.A. teenage duo Pretty Little Demons did their best to steal the show with an opening set.
