L.A. concerts for the first day of the holiday weekend:

► Burger a-Go-Go 2 goes off at the Observatory, with Cat Power, the Julie Ruin, Kate Nash, Bleached, Julie Glazerr, Kimya Dawson, Kim Gordon’s Glitterbust, the Aquadolls, Summer Twins, Peach Kelli Pop, Feels, Jessie Jones, Massenger, Death Valley Girls, the Fly Traps, Avalon, Ian, Bonbon, Dog Party, Gal Pals, Susan, the Side Eyes and the Rosalyns.
► Long Beach’s annual Buskerfest has a headlining set from Rival Sons, along with these bands “competing” on four stages set up on flatbed trucks, busking for wooden nickels: Bloody Death Skull, Rosie Harlow & the Tall Tale Boys, Full Tilt Trio, Tall Walls, Tall Tales and the Silver Lining, Forest of Tongue, Tacky Little Hat Shop and Paper Thin Hands. It happens in the East Village Arts District.
► Not far away, the Shoreline Jam brings Matisyahu, Common Kings, The Grouch & Eligh, Tomorrows Bad Seeds and more to the Queen Mary.
► Dam-Funk celebrates the release of his new album “Invite the Light” with a show at the Teragram Ballroom.
► The Gipsy Kings head up a big night at Greek Theatre, joined by Nicolas Reyes, Tonino Baliardo and Arc Iris.
► And Rita Coolidge does a free show Levitt Pavilion Pasadena.
