The good news is that there’s an indie-pop band talking about the global shitstorm we’re living in. The better news is that it’s Swedish dream-pop luminaries The Radio Dept. The band, which took a hiatus after “Clinging to a Scheme” in 2010, released a single, “Occupied,” in June, and followed today with a one-off “This Repeated Sodomy.” A missive from Sweden’s Labrador Records indicates this will not be on their forthcoming album (but, hey, at least something is on the way). The songs begins with: “Lately I’ve been occupied / with losing everything but pride / I’m like the Greek economy / and that would make you Germany.” (Full lyrics here.) Beautiful, with a bite. Meanwhile, I’ll be spending the rest of the afternoon listening to Labrador’s Soundcloud stream.
