With Vampire Weekend taking a breather between Grammy-winning album No. 3 and whatever is next, bassist Chris Baio, working under his surname, has followed up a couple of EPs and some solo experimentation with a full-length album. Baio’s “The Names” is out Friday, and Tuesday night at the Echo the sharp-dressed 30-year-old brought the album’s eclectic, lively tracks to life. [Stream it here.] Fans who packed the sold-out venue welcomed Baio’s songs — a frisky take on ’80s dance-pop — enthusiastically, with “Brainwash yyrr Face,” “Sister of Pearl” and the album’s title track getting a big reaction.
