It’s been three years since He’s My Brother She’s My Sister released “Nobody Dances In This Town” and traveled the world spreading its folk-glam-tap-dancing-rock-and-roll circus. They return now with “Live In A Dream,” and it’s not all fun and games and dancing into the sunrise, despite the catchy hook and Rachel Kolar’s singularly dreamy voice. If you find yourself imagining fiery explosions in some sort of dark apocalyptic scenario as you take in the tune, then your mind is headed in the right direction. This is a dark, ominous rocker. Kolar says, “The song is about future generations being born into a crumbling system and rising up like the Phoenix to create a better world.” They’ve released the song on Bandcamp with a pay-what-you-want price tag, and all proceeds go to Earthworks, a nonprofit organization “dedicated to protecting communities and the environment from the adverse impacts of mineral and energy development while promoting sustainable solutions.” So, can music save the planet from the evil, greedy, destructive corporations that threaten to decimate all life as we know it and thrust civilization into a crumbling vortex of doom and despair? We think so, yes.
