Legendary singer-songwriter Van Morrison, who recently celebrated his 70th birthday with a show in Belfast, will play the Shrine Auditorium on Jan. 16.

Earlier this year, the six-time Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released the collection “Duets: Re-Working the Catalogue,” a compilation of his hits featuring vocal collaborators such as Mavis Staples, Bobby Womack, Michael Bublé, Natalie Cole, Steve Winwood and his daughter Shana Morrison. And this month sees the release of the documentary “Van Morrison – Another Glorious Decade,” a look back at the Irishman’s career in the 1970s.

In April 1973, Morrison played the Shrine as part of the television show “Don Kirshner’s Rock Concert.” It sounded something like this.

Presale tickets ($85-$250) are available at 10 a.m. Thursday; general on-sale is 10 a.m. Friday.
