Whoever you are, Natalie, nice work. As the inspiration for the new Hunny single, you have been immortalized in a song folks are likely to love in the U.K. and maybe on your home turf too. To review: Hunny emerged early this year with the radio-ready “Cry for Me” after turning the page from their previous incarnation as Daydreamer. The sextet — Jason Yarger, Jake Goldstein, Jacob Munk, Gregory Horne, Kevin Grimmett and Joey Anderson — keep knocking it dead every time they play live, and the new single “Natalie” was the highlight of their set back in February when they played the Chinese New Year Festival. It’s the kind of post-Britpop, new-new wave, post-punk revivalism done well (at varying junctures) by the likes of the Kaiser Chiefs and White Lies over the past decade. Hunny might hail from the West Valley and not London, but “Natalie’s” chorus will sound good wherever you can get an FM signal. The tune will appear on the band’s “Pain/Ache/Loving” EP, out Oct. 9 via Blahblahblahscience.
