After label drama, lineup changes and a six-year span between albums, Mew have been welcomed back warmly after the release this spring of their sixth album “+-.” The crowd Friday night at the Observatory joined in the embrace of the Danish art-rockers prog-cum-psych-rock — with Jonas Bjerre’s falsetto in fine form, they jumped on board from the beginning, when the band began with “Witness” and “Satellites,” the first two songs off the new album, before jumping back for two songs of 2005’s “And the Glass Handed Kites.” They earned a huge reaction for 2003’s “Snow Brigade” and ended up playing four more songs off the new album. They finished with the 9-plus-minute jam “Comforting Sounds” from back in 2000. The Dodos opened. Both bands play the Fonda Theatre on Friday night, but before that Mew does an in-store at Origami Vinyl on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
