Foo Fighters’ sonic highway wended its way back to the Forum on Monday night, nine months after the band celebrated frontman Dave Grohl’s birthday with a show there and three months since Grohl sustained a broken leg when he fell offstage during a concert in Sweden. Performing from a “throne” festooned with guitars and with his leg in a cast, Grohl mustered every ounce of physicality he could, leading the quintet through career-spanning set and springing several guests on the sellout crowd. Jack Black materialized to sing a bit of a cover of Rush’s “Tom Sawyer,” and near the end Stevie Nicks and the Haim sisters — Este, Danielle and Alana — joined the Fighters for renditions of “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” and “Gold Dust Woman.” Austin axeman Gary Clark Jr. opened the show, matching Grohl guitar-face for guitar-face. They return to the Forum for another show tonight.
