Blondfire make electro-pop sound pretty Last Year on their new single “Pleasure.” The band — songwriting siblings Erica and Bruce Driscoll, along with Steve Stout, Josh Miramontes and Reade Pryor — follow up their 2014 full-length “Young Heart” with a song that Erica says is “inspired by the crazy Manchester drug scene aftermath and how seeking that ultimate euphoria and pleasure can come with a dark side. It was fun while it lasted …” Indeed, “Pleasure’s” chiming guitars and oozing synth have more in common with late-period Lush or underrated U.K. dance-pop outfit Dubstar than today’s synth-pop contenders. Out today, the release comes via Wax Ltd. (Zella Day, Family of the Year) and will appear on a 7-inch with the song “Domino.” An EP is in the work for early next year, with a full-length to follow.
