Video: Best Coast, ‘In My Eyes’

To match their revamped classy look, Best Coast shot the video for “In My Eyes” atop the Capitol Records building, looking all sophisticated and grown up from the Cali slacker aesthetic of the duo’s early days. With a full band backing them, Bobb Bruno and Bethany Cosentino deliver this bummed out break up song from their third album, “California Nights,” with the lyrics weaving in and out around them like a revolving Hollywood sign. While the band continues pursuing the subject matter closest to its heart—boys, heartache, California sun and moon—they’ve up the softly psychedelic ante, as evidenced by the performance, sounding self-assured in the delivery of hum-glum feelings. Something about standing on top of one of the most iconic buildings in Los Angeles surely makes up for a sour breakup. Probably will help to purge those emotions in front of 17,000 people tonight at the Hollywood Bowl.
