Neither rain nor mud nor a night in Tehachapi could keep Hinds from their appointed rounds Friday night. Which included playing to a giddy crowd at the Echoplex. The quartet from Madrid, Spain, were among hundreds stranded Thursday night when heavy rains and mudslides forced highway closures north of Los Angeles. They spent the night in Tehachapi, but with no hotels or Airbnb to be found, they took to Twitter and Instagram before finding a place to spend the night with a woman and two daughters.
Finally arriving in L.A., Carlotta Sials, Ana Perrote, Ade Martin and Amber Grimbergen stopped by Origami Vinyl to sign copies of their new EP “The Very Best of Hinds So Far” and then spread their lo-fi pop charm to an adoring audience at the Echoplex, playing a 10-song set ending with the single “Castigadas En El Granero” (somewhat appropriately, “Grounded in the Barn”). There was crowd-surfing involved. Public Access TV and Rudy De Anda opened the night.
