Poor Weezer. Now competing against Blues, Greens and Reds, and the Pinkertons, Maladroits and Hurleys of their own catalog, wanting us to believe that everything will be all right in the end. And then, “Thank God for Girls.” Which sounds like a hip-pop band wreaking havoc on an alternate version of the XTC classic “Dear God,” right down the final phrase. The single artwork [below] is worth a chuckle, though. And cannoli. Thank God we remember the good times.

I preferred Rivers when he was afraid of women. There’s something a lot more charming about a 20 year old geek singing about finding solace in X-men comics than a nearly 50 year old man proclaiming his love for the female gender.
I’m surprised more people haven’t brought up the XTC/Dear God comparison. That was the first thing I thought when I heard this song. Catchy but way more of a ripoff to my ears than Blured Lines was of Marvin Gaye for instance.
