Stream: Alge, ‘Waiting On You’

Jon Weinman’s solo project Alge has been doling out tracks over the course of the year, but the Los Angeles-based artist will finally be performing a live show in a couple weeks, as well as releasing his debut EP entitled “Diamond Inseams,” due out on Nov. 20. Its lead single, “Waiting On You,” is another moody amalgamation of alternative R&B and chillwave synths with subtle percussive touches broadening the boom-bap beat in the mix. Weinman’s voice floats above the music with abstract lyrics like, “My head and heart are an apartheid, would you behold a fresh disaster / Like Stella Adler in a coal mine, just to inspire a bad actor,” and, “I’m in a hall of smoke and mirrors circling back on bad decisions / It won’t skew my view of you, but I’m losing my vision,” before the track finishes out with a bass guitar solo, production cacophony, and wind down to close.
