MIGHTY is the nom de tune of 20-year-old Pittsburgh native Angelo Fiaretti, a high-school dropout whose continuing education in the DIY punk and indie scenes has served him very well. The visceral, underdog themes in MIGHTY’s debut EP can’t be learned, though, only felt. And sounding like a pissed-off ’90s kid, they are articulated in the songs on “Bye, Have Nice!,” out Friday via Song in the Air. Now based in Atlanta, Fiaretti recorded the five songs with Daniel Gleason of Grouplove in a kitchen they christened Ant Hill Studios (so named because a serious infestation). They feature Gleason on bass, along with Gordon Keiter on drums and CJ Ridings on bass, guitar and keyboards. No manufactured outsider anthems here, just a comfortably raw soundtrack for working on those tricks at a local park.
