Stream: Armors, ‘Aubrey’

In their new single “Aubrey,” Armors lament that a girl’s expectations and self-image are tainted by what she sees splashed across the mass media. We can’t all live or look like glossy photo spreads, after all. “My girl, she’s the victim of a magazine,” the song says, adding, “With every change you lose yourself.” Cogent observations, all. Similarly, though, the Orange County-bred indie rockers — Olen Kittlesen, Sam Beresford and Kody Buxton — may be influenced by what they hear all over the radio. The slick single, produced by Adam Castilla (The Colourist), with its pleading vocals and bouncing melody line, sounds a lot like the hip-hop-flavored pop-rock of the Neighbourhood. The single will appear on the band’s new EP, “Collisions,” out Dec. 4. Aubrey, wherever you are, take good look in the mirror, and be OK with it.
