Stream: 10 covers songs that don’t make us cover our ears

We get sent a lot of cover songs. Often, they are made just so websites like us have a steady churn of content for people like you. Sometimes they are recorded versions of songs artists have added to their live sets. Suffice to say some are better than others. We compiled a mix here of 10 that have come our way in the past few months, and added some background below. Enjoy.
The background:
Magic Bronson, “Coconut” — The L.A. duo brings its off-kilter charm to Nilsson’s 1971 goofball hit, ironically the first tune he both performed and wrote to make the Top 10.
Freedom Fry, “1979” — Husband/wife pop duo Marie Seyrat and Bruce Driscoll deliver an acoustic version of Smashing Pumpkins’ 1996 hit, gorgeous in its simplicity.
Alexa Melo, “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover” — If you’ve heard the prodigious young talent cover Pink Floyd, you think, “Sure, Sophie B. Hawkins, no problem.”
Dear Boy, “The Ghost in You” — The B-side to the L.A. rockers’ “Hesitation Waltz” single, it’s an even slower slow-dance here.
So Many Wizards, “Slow” — Under the auspices of Part Time Punks, Nima Kazerouni and crew take on My Bloody Valentine.
The Fontaines, “Young & Beautiful” — A daring attempt by the sibling duo to coo like Lana Del Rey, and half en francais to boot.
Night Terrors of 1927, “Talking in Your Sleep” — Jarrod Gorbel, Blake Sennett and crew played this one live a lot, and it’s a fun departure from their highly emotional original material.
Mansions on the Moon, “Boots of Spanish Leather” — Color us surprised when the electro-pop outfit unveiled this gorgeous, almost-all-acoustic take on Bob Dylan. The times they might be a-changin’.
Delta Spirit, “I Feel Free” — The quintet’s version of Cream’s 1966 song appears on the deluxe edition of the album “Into the Wide.” The original is in good hands here.
Avid Dancer, “Angel in the Snow” — Jacob Summers breathes deep, tries his hand at Elliott Smith. Careful. Out. There.
