Robert DeLong headlined the Fonda Theatre on Saturday night, and for the many who’d never seen him, it was like watching a kid play with the new toys he’d just opened on Christmas morning. For those familiar with his frenetic one-man show, it was chance see the L.A.-based electronic musician take his face-painted wizardry into a bigger room. DeLong was touring behind his new album “In the Cards,” and he played eight songs from it, including the title track, concert closer “Acid Rain” and the singles “Don’t Wait Up” and “Long Way Down.” The early single “Global Concepts” was there too, all dressed up and ready to dance as DeLong hopped from his synthesizers and pads to his Wii remote to his drum kit. Coleman Hell and XYLO opened the show.
