Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily go Animal Collective, down their psychedelic rabbit hole and toward their 11th album, “Painting With,” due Feb. 19. The trio of David Portner (Avey Tare), Noah Lennox (Panda Bear) and Brian Weitz (Geologist) recorded the album at EastWest Studios in Hollywood, and it features contributions from John Cale and Colin Stetson, today’s announcement reveals. What it doesn’t say is what wacky fun the new song “FloriDada” is — beyond its obvious art inspirations, it’s sensory-overload stream-of-everything, whimsically warped. With vocal rounds on hallucinogens, or something. Best to try to follow along with the lyrics, conveniently located here. Here’s betting we see them at Coachella.
