Ears Wide Open: Brandyn Burnette

Brandyn Burnette probably should have been on the larger pop radar by now; the St. Louis-reared singer, songwriter and producer, who honed his chops while living in New York City and attending NYU, was supposed to release a mixtape last year via Warner Bros. That didn’t happen, although the single “Thanks for Nothing” did, and Burnette went the independent route. Have co-written with the likes of MKTO, Jake Miller and Charlie Puth, Burnette also collaborated with his girlfriend Molly Moore on her debut EP “Shadow of the Sun” (just out last week). Burnette’s own EP “Made of Dreams” came out last month, boasting sleek production and the 25-year-old’s silky, soulful vocals. If you find mainstream pop and its gimmicky effects grating, then sweet, stripped-down piano ballad “Lost” will, as the lyrics say, “help you break the fall.”
