A year ago, transatlantic ensemble the Luxembourg Signal released their long-in-the-works self-titled album, continuing their lineage of popgazing that dates back to the Sarah Records era (three of TLS’s members were in the band Aberdeen). A new release on Sacramento’s Test Pattern Records sees the Luxembourg Signal’s song “Dying Star” get a psychedelic massage from Robert Hampson of late-’80s U.K. pop luminaries Loop. The song is being released Friday on a limited-edition 7-inch with a new tune from Sacramento indie shoegazers Soft Science. “Breaking” is one of those melodic, melancholic indie-pop gems, reminiscent of Heavenly, that seems far too sweet to be relegated to a tiny DIY label. Meanwhile, the Luxembourg Signal have begun work on a second album, with with members spread between Los Angeles, London and San Diego, it might take some time, they say.
