Chvrches’ euphoric electro-pop took the chill off a brisk night Monday at the Fonda Theatre, where the Scottish trio mixed songs from their two albums in with some lively banter from singer Lauren Mayberry.

During the set, Mayberry allowed how as she was a “fan of big old women’s underwear,” said that she hoped the crowd got her sarcasm because she “doesn’t want people to think that she’s just a mean person” and explained that she understood “that this is cold for California … ’Tis the season.”

The set started briskly, with Mayberry and bandmates Iain Cook and Martin Doherty jumping into an new song “Never Ending Circles” and the older one “We Sink.” The Glaswegians’ 17-song set was split almost evenly between the two albums, nine from the September release “Every Open Eye” and eight from 2013’s “The Bones of What We Believe.”

After ending their main set with “Clearest Blue,” they returned for a two-song encore of “Afterglow” and “The Mother We Share.”

London’s Baio opened the show, and while it was evident that not many in the crowd knew him, he won most over by the time he played “The Names.” He finished up with an unspectacular cover of the Eurythmics’ “Here Comes the Rain Again.” He’s return to L.A. in February to play the El Rey.

The show was part of radio station ALT98.7’s December concert series.
