San Diego duo Prayers put on a vein-popping display of their “Cholo Goth” on Saturday night at the El Rey Theatre. It was an evening that slowly built in intensity as it progressed and was capped by Travis Barker — wearing a Prayers ski mask — joining the band to drum on “Young Gods,” the title track to the EP they released last summer on Barker’s label.

Prayers’ frenetic set included plenty of stage-diving, with crowd members clambering up on stage for a photo op with vocalist Rafael Reyes.

Plague Vendor’s ferocious set preceded Prayers, and the evening began with sets from Avalon Lurks and VOWWS.
